Say Hello to SAFELipo and Goodbye to Excess Fat!

You diet and you exercise, yet you still can’t seem to lose that tummy pouch or love handles.  The fat cells have settled in, making it nearly impossible to get rid of with exercise and diet alone. Dr. Simeon Wall Jr., a board certified plastic surgeon from Shreveport, Louisiana, discusses SAFELipo and how the answer to your excess fat has arrived.

Curves and Lumps go away!

wp1SAFELipo, originated by Dr. Wall himself, allows plastic surgeons to remove as much fat as they want without having to worry about complications in the appearance. Common problems from a standard liposuction procedure include a curvy or uneven appearance when a lot of fat is removed. “From the beginning of liposuction, there has always been this worry about how the more fat you take, the more likely you’ll have complications,” says Dr. Wall “People have tried over the last three decades to eliminate that curve. Trying to make it to where you can be really dramatic, and take a lot more fat comprehensively without increasing those problems. Even in thin patients, we don’t ever see those wavy areas, or an increase in cellulite.”

Remove Excess Fat Smoothly

SAFELipo is performed in a 3-step S-A-F-E process to contract excess fat evenly and gently.  The procedure consists of fat Separation, fat Aspiration, and Fat Equalization.

The surgeon first goes in and separates all of the fat globules from each other and from their surrounding attachments.  Next, the surgeon aspirates, or, in other words, takes out all of the loose type fat.  Lastly, the surgeon goes back in and evens out that entire area, creating a smooth blanket of small local fat grafts that are left in place.

SAFELipo can also be utilized in a variety of other procedures to reduce fat. To name a few, facelifts, thigh lifts and abdominoplasty procedures can all benefit from SAFELipo. “When you take out the skin or tighten muscles and you combine that with dramatic liposuction, then you have something really powerful,” says Dr. Wall. “That is what I think everyone is excited about.”

Results and Recovery

wp2Just as exciting as the results, the recovery period is a bit quicker than standard liposuction.  It will be less traumatic and not as much bruising will occur, allowing you to be more mobile.  “It is nice to see the swelling go down so much faster.  There is no skin damage or color changes like you would typically see from some other types of liposuction. It is a lot gentler on all of the supporting structures and blood vessels, leading to a fantastic recovery,” says Wall.
