When patients have done all they can with diet, exercise and lifestyle choices, yet are still unhappy with their appearance, that’s when a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, like Dr. Robert Grant, can make a difference.

Three Steps Toward a Healthier You

New York based surgeon, Dr. Robert Grant, developed a regimen to keep people looking and feeling their best at every stage in their life.  Life Stage Personal Enhancement is a program where he applies non-surgical solutions along with surgical procedures, if needed, to help patients feel good about their appearance.  Grant says, “I truly enjoy helping my patients achieve their specific body image goals and objectives.” He says, “There is nothing more rewarding than performing what can be a paradigm shifting, aesthetic surgical procedure, but many times, patients aren’t ready for a operation.”

In those cases, Dr. Grant, outlines three steps that will help you achieve the right balance of inner and outer beauty. Grant says, “Even if we’re not booking the operating room, I know the patient can leave my office with some real tips to make them look and feel better.”

Sleep is the Key to a Healthy Lifestyle

Number 1 —
If you’re not losing weight with diet and exercise, count up the number of hours you’re sleeping.  Evidence shows, people who sleep at least 8 hours a night, are more efficient at weight loss. It is thought that the lack of sleep impacts the balance of hormones in the body that affect appetite. Grant says, “your muscle mass increases though proper rest and increased muscle mass burns more calories than fat.”

Researchers at the University of Chicago discovered that dieters who were well rested, lost 56 percent more weight than those who were not getting enough rest.
Having the right balance of sleep all week, not just on the weekends, also helps banish under eye circles, increases stamina and improves your mood.

Number 2 —
How much water are you drinking each day? Are you getting close to the eight glasses of day that is advised? According to Grant, drinking water suppresses your appetite, it also has no calories and no metabolic side effects like you see with some sugar filled sodas and diet drinks. Grant says, “Water can help increase your energy level and maintain your muscle fitness.”

Number 3 —
Smile!  Crazy as it may sound, smiling can lead to numerous health benefits besides just looking happier. It turns out, laughter really is the best medicine. Grant says, “Smiling releases endorphins, which are natural pain killers, and the mood enhancer serotonin.”  Serotonin is a hormone that contributes to feelings of well-being and happiness.

These are three easy and basic steps anyone can take right now to accomplish your goal of looking your best, and to get you moving in the right direction with your health.  After all, you only look as good as you feel, and if you feel good you are definitely going to look better too.
