I’m pretty sure I can speak for most of us and say I’m glad I’ve digested all the fixings from Thanksgiving (and the leftovers for a few days after). Now it’s time to gear up, get a few good workouts in and then put some nice finishing touches on our holiday ‘looks’ for the parties and get togethers already on the calendar.
Here are some good tidings that a lot of folks don’t know about, the biggest and best holiday plastic surgery secret… You don’t have to have any ‘major’ plastic surgery procedures done in order to wow your friends, family and in-laws during the upcoming weeks of parties and festivities!
A ‘Little’ Can Help ‘A Lot’ – and Right Away
Plastic surgery today is substantially about non-surgical procedures, whether it be Botox and fillers to CoolSculpting, BodyTite, and beyond. These procedures affect smaller amounts of change that their surgical counterparts, but they don’t require a trip to the OR. Not having to undergo surgery and anesthesia means recovery and downtime are both considerably less, if not non-existent.
Daniel Maman, MD, a board certified plastic surgeon in New York City, confided in The Plastic Surgery Channel that he can use “a wide variety” of treatments to help out his patients who waited until the last minute to look great for the holidays. “There are a lot of non-invasive, quick treatments – a lot of fillers, Botox, injecting a little bit of Voluma along the cheekbone,” details Dr. Maman. “It goes a long way for the immediate look of rejuvenation. There are many things that can have great effects in very subtle ways, in a very short amount of time.”
Prepare to Look Younger than Last Year’s Holiday Pics
Determined to look younger than your younger brothers and sisters? We’ve got some secret weapons for you! If frown lines, crow’s feet and smile lines are creeping their way onto your face (and into your profile pics), BOTOX and dermal fillers can soften such wrinkles and restore a youthful plumpness to your features. These non-surgical injectable procedures may involve a touch of swelling for a few days after, but certainly can be performed “quickly” for upcoming holiday events.
The key to both aesthetic success and a rapid recovery is going to the right practitioner. Bruising and swelling involved with injectable procedures can be somewhat mitigated by a deft hand, the kind of hands it’s worth to pay a bit extra for.
Beyond the non-surgical treatments, board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Craig Colville of Toledo, Ohio says give him two months and he can do anything and make you look stunning. Even if the holiday clock is ticking, there are still many surgical options people may be overlooking.
“There are a myriad things we can do,” Dr. Colville tells The Plastic Surgery Channel. “Non-invasive means quick recuperation. Invasive, I give a range from 10 to 20 days, which throws people off because they think 10 days – that’s a week and a half! 20 days they say that’s not quite three weeks. So, you could have your eyes done. You could have a little neck lift. You could have a little liposuction. You’ll still be swollen from all these initially, but you can have procedures done within three weeks that would make you look great.”
NOW is the Right Time
Sometimes it’s best to not rush anything. While some people may majorly benefit from a Botox injection, some may be beyond what Botox can successfully solve. For these patients, rushing to get a non-invasive procedure performed before the holidays may be a waste of both time and money. If a facelift is what you need, then maybe it’s best to wait until you have the proper amount of time to recover.
Stafford Broumand, a board certified plastic surgeon in New York City, says he likes to have a serious heart-to-heart with his patients to find out what and when something needs to be done. “My discussion with a patient is that the right time to have surgery is when you want to have it done,” Dr. Broumand says. “There’s no time like the present. You can have it done, you’ll recuperate and we’ll make the adjustments and have you look great.”
