In this PSC Case Files, board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Raja Mohan of Arlington, Texas and Dr. John Q. Cook of Chicago discuss a patient of Dr. Mohan who pointed to her breasts and said, “make me look better.” She believed that she needed a breast augmentation, due to the fact that her breasts had fallen on the chest wall and deflated. To her, volume was what she needed. To Dr. Mohan, she needed volume and a lift.
Oftentimes, even in patients with enough volume, a breast lift is likely going to be the game-changing operation over a standard breast augmentation. Simply adding an implant may impart shape and volume, but if the tissues are already descending, more volume will only hasten the process. In order to correctly rejuvenate the breasts in these women, the tissues need to be lifted back into their proper place, and sometimes strengthened if they are older and weaker.
Dr. Cook shares his veteran insights into the breast lift and why adding this procedure to a breast augmentation, as Dr. Mohan did with his patient, can achieve truly complete and remarkable results.
