Treating Depression
Dr. Brian K. Brzowski, a board certified plastic surgeon from Utah, explains how Botox can treat depression. For one, suppressing the ability to frown can greatly boost your mood. Dr. Brzowski says, “The most-recent study, reported in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, showed Botox injections disabling patients’ frowning muscles provided effective relief of clinical depression.” And according to a recent study, a single treatment with Botox can induce a significant and sustained antidepressant effect in patients with major depression.
Dr. Brzowski adds that researchers found several other potential advantages from using Botox to treat depression, “including improved compliance, cost effective, few drug interactions and well-documented safety.”
Headaches No More!
Chenoweth told Prevention magazine, “I get Botox regularly, and I’m very happy to talk about why. When I was thirty-five, I was having debilitating migraines about once a week. I went to my doctor in New York, and she said she wanted to give me five shots of Botox across my eyebrows.” She continues by saying that she hasn’t had a migraine since! “Every six months, five shots right here [motions across her eyebrows]. I’m thankful for it.”
The FDA says that multiple injections around the head and neck can dull future headache symptoms. Patients who suffer chronic migraines should first discuss with their physician whether Botox is appropriate for them.
The Versatile Injectable
Botox is still one of the most popular and effective anti-aging tools, and as the years pass, it continues to find new ways to help patients treat various problems.
