William P. Adams Jr. MD is in private plastic surgery practice in Dallas, Tx, and an Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Adams is a international authority on breast augmentation/ enlargement, breast implants including cohesive gel implants and body contouring procedures. He has developed a new techniques for use in clinical breast implant surgery that has made breast augmentation / enlargement and breast reconstruction safer for patients.
He also is active in educating plastic surgeons around the country on the new level of breast augmentation currently possible ,including a re-defined patient experience and 24 hour recovery.
Dr. Adams spent his first 10 years in practice in the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center before transitioning to full time private practice to devote more time to his clinical practice and spend more time with his family. He is presently an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center .
Dr. Adams received his undergraduate degree with honors from Princeton University. He attended Vanderbilt University Medical School where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and received the prestigious award for the best graduating clinician. He completed both his general surgery and his plastic surgery residency training in the nationally renowned resident training program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. He also completed an additional year of fellowship in plastic surgery at UT Southwestern.
Dr. Adams is a national authority on breast implant surgery and related issues. He has developed a new irrigant for use in clinical breast implant surgery that may make breast enlargement and breast reconstruction safer. He is invited all over the world to speak to surgeons, industry and patients about breast augmentation and breast surgery. Dr. Adams is currently doing research on capsular contracture, cohesive gel implants, and advanced breast surgical techniques.
He has published numerous papers and chapters as well as presented multiple plastic surgery lectures on the international level. He is on the breast editorial board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the premier journal of plastic surgery.
Dr. Adams recently published a new textbook surgical atlas to further educate surgeons on breast augmentation surgery and co-edited a 2 volume rhinoplasty textbook, Dallas Rhinoplasty, with Drs. Rod Rohrich and Jack Gunter, which serves as one of the classic rhinoplasty texts available.
Dr. Adams is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), member and board member of ASERF (Aesthetic Society Education and Research Foundation), Texas Society of Plastic Surgery, President of the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the breast implant task force. He also serves as one the staff plastic surgeons for the Dallas Stars.
In 2010 Dr. Adams founded and currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for The Plastic Surgery Channel. A multi-media information source for plastic surgery. Currently different platforms for credible information exchange are being developed thru the channel to benefit patients, surgeons and industry.
Dr. Adams was presented the faculty Teaching Award in 2005 in the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern and received the Faculty Excellence Award in 2001, and was named Department of Plastic Surgery Clinician of the Year 1998. He was also the recipient of the 1997 Excellence in Research Award and Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Plastic Surgery. His current research interests include breast implants and technology, implant capsular contracture.
Dr. Adams’ special interests include: cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery (including breast augmentation/enlargement and minimal scar breast lift), rhinoplasty, facial reanimation, body contouring.
